  15. Neither rms or I have ever heard of GNU-WINDOWS (for MS-DOS).

  17. Perhaps the author expected he would try to donate the software to
  18. the GNU Project, but never did.

  20. Note that many programmers use the GNU General Public License these
  21. days, whose software does not end up as part of GNU.  Usually because
  22. it's for a non-*nix operating system.  So use of the copyleft (or even
  23. the word "GNU"), does not mean the software is part of the GNU
  24. Project.

  26. FSF, and GNUers in general, are happy to see the copyleft used this way,
  27. though we ask that such authors make clear that the software is not
  28. part of the GNU Operating System.

  39.      I'd thank you provide me with some information about a packet called 
  40.    GNU-WINDOWS (for MS-DOS). It consists in:
  41.        - gnuwin.exe
  42.        - fileman.exe
  43.        - progman.exe
  44.        - *.bgi
  45.        - read.me
  46.  
  47.      I also include the read.me.  I'd want to know how it works and where to
  48.    get it, I mean the whole packet (including LIBS and HEADERS FILES).

  81.        When GNU-windows starts it looks, and expects to find the standard
  82.        startup files. This includes both the MS-Windows style files,
  83.        along with its X counterparts.

  85.        No change is needed for the MS-Windows programs, which sould run
  86.        as normal under GNU-windows.

  88.        X-applications need to be compiled for the IBM achitecture using
  89.        a standard C compiler, such as g++, and must have the needed
  90.        changes (as stated in the XtoDOS.inf file) and must include the
  91.        GNUWIN.H header file.
