- Neither rms or I have ever heard of GNU-WINDOWS (for MS-DOS).
-
- Perhaps the author expected he would try to donate the software to
- the GNU Project, but never did.
-
- Note that many programmers use the GNU General Public License these
- days, whose software does not end up as part of GNU. Usually because
- it's for a non-*nix operating system. So use of the copyleft (or even
- the word "GNU"), does not mean the software is part of the GNU
- Project.
-
- FSF, and GNUers in general, are happy to see the copyleft used this way,
- though we ask that such authors make clear that the software is not
- part of the GNU Operating System.

-
- I'd thank you provide me with some information about a packet called
- GNU-WINDOWS (for MS-DOS). It consists in:
- - gnuwin.exe
- - fileman.exe
- - progman.exe
- - *.bgi
- - read.me
-
- I also include the read.me. I'd want to know how it works and where to
- get it, I mean the whole packet (including LIBS and HEADERS FILES).
-
- Thanks in advance

- NOTES:
- When GNU-windows starts it looks, and expects to find the standard
- startup files. This includes both the MS-Windows style files,
- along with its X counterparts.
-
- No change is needed for the MS-Windows programs, which sould run
- as normal under GNU-windows.
-
- X-applications need to be compiled for the IBM achitecture using
- a standard C compiler, such as g++, and must have the needed
- changes (as stated in the XtoDOS.inf file) and must include the
- GNUWIN.H header file.
