  20. Hi.  I think my problem is either a driver bug or a weird hardware
  21. glitch, but maybe someone else has encountered it as well.

  23. My problem occurs when I fire off my server (see below for details)
  24. in 256 color mode: everything on the screen is quite blurry.
  25. Artifacts are left behind as if they're features and nothing is
  26. legible.  On the bright side, I do get 256 colors, but the system is
  27. worse than useless.  It is tantalizing.  This happens regardless of
  28. the resolution.  When I reconfig the driver to use only 16 colors,
  29. everything works fine, even in the high res (1024x768) mode.  (Well,
  30. it's hi-res for me.) If you have ever experienced this and solved
  31. the problem, please help me out and make my world saner by helping
  32. me avoid color flashing and "unable to allocate color" messages.

  34. My system, if you are still interested: 
  35. SCO Unix 3.2.4   (N.B.  this is not an ODT system)
  36. Xsco server (This is X11R4, from sco's TLS releases.  Herein, I 
  37.  believe lies the bug.) 
  38. Trident JAX-8212 (8900C) with 1 Meg memory.  
  39. Sony 1304hg

  41. Oh yeah, it all runs on an i486 with 8meg.

  43. I already know that the best solution would be to buy/download a
  44. better server, and/or buy a better card, but money and disk space
  45. are major limiting factors.   And don't tell me to buy another OS:
  46. same problem there, too.
