- I am seeking an appropriate introductory textbook/material of Japanese
- linguistics (not Japanese language) for Japanese minor students.
- Attendants are expected to have finished at least two years' Japanese
- courses. Since the majority of them will end up in business, I want to
- minimize technical jargons and abstract "theories" in class. The primary
- goal of the class is sensitizing them about grammatical phenomena in
- Japanese. Currently I have two possibilities in mind:
-
- 1. Japanese and English contrastive grammar (textbook undecided)
- 2. Comparative analyses of grammatical explanations in major JFL
- textbooks (e.g., How Jorden, Young & Nakajima, Soga and Endo each treat
- passive).
-
- I am open to other possibilities. Could you not let me know if you have any
- suggestions regarding the scope and/or appropriate materials for such a
- course?
