- I missed the previous part of the discussion, but be aware that current
- versions of xdm don't know about the SysVR4 new password mechanism with
- the /etc/shadow file. It only looks at the /etc/passwd file (that is, in
- all implementations we have around here, including X11R5 on Sun Solaris2,
- Dell Unix, NCR3000/SysVR4 etc).
- This can be tested and solved by removing the '+' entry from the /etc/passwd
- file and replace it by the password as it is set in the /etc/shadow file.
- This '+' entry is just a dummy entry, so everything will keep working.
