- I am trying to see whether XAPPEAL will work on my system.
- I am running a Gateway 2000 '486 with 8 meg RAM, Tseng 4000
- video card, Novell Network connection.

- When I attach via TELNET first, and then issue this command
- (sleep 20; xterm -ls -d <my.ip.address>)&exit
-
- I get a few network unreachable commands, then this:
-
- 3 or 4: ICMP: Port Unreachable
-
- and finally
-
- XDM: Too Many Retransmissions
-
- Other notes: I get screen flashes, as if my PC is
- trying to connect to XDM unsuccesfully.
- : I did connect succesfully when our
- network was not reportng unique IP addresses (i.e. every PC
- on the network would have the same IP). Once the
- network administrator assigned me a unique IP, i have been
- unable to get XAppeal to run.
