- Actually, BinHex is NOT a compression utility. In fact, it's the opposite.
- The BinHex file format is the Macintosh equivalent of uuencoding. It's a
- method for encoding a binary file in ONLY printable ascii characters. Since
- each byte of binary code (256 values) is being converted to a printable ascii
- character (less than 256 values), it takes more than 1 character to represent
- a byte of binary code. Because of this, BinHex will EXPAND a file rather than
- compress it.
