  14. I'm a new reader here (note my recent posting asking for information about 
  15. grayscale X Terminals), with relatively little X experience.  I'm actually
  16. programming VAX/VMS "DECwindows," in Assembly language (we don't have or use
  17. C), with only the DEC manuals to guide us.  I took two one-week courses in
  18. DECwindows programming about two years ago, but found them largely incompre-
  19. hensible due to my own total lack of background (I'd never even SEEN or USED
  20. X/DECwindows before I arrived at the class).  The one thing I DID understand,
  21. and which made it possible for me to write applications -- even "small" ones
  22. -- where otherwise I couldn't possibly have done so, was UIL.  I for one am
  23. "damn glad" to have it! :-)
