-
- Why recommend programming with OLIT to a 3rd party vendor when
- the 3rd party will probably port to Motif? MoOLIT, I can
- almost understand, but OLIT???
-
- Also, since everyone is using C++ nowadays, what kind of C++
- toolkit is available for OLIT? If one is available, can you
- truly subclass with it? That will be (is) a key attribute of
- any successful C++ class library for a GUI.

-
- How well are they selling? Let's put your applications (or the
- applications built with your toolkits) next to Microsoft's,
- next to NeXT's, next to Gain Technology's apps, next to Visix'
- Looking Glass and let's see which applications the end-user
- chooses as the applications they would be likely to use. First
- do a "Look" test (ie, without "driving" the applications), then
- do a "Feel" test (drive it around the block). I believe you
- will be surprised on what they select.

-
- Of course this is personal opinion, that's why I clearly added
- "imho" to my text.
-
- My XView comments are based on SunSoft's poor (imho...)
- migration strategy, not on any viability to build cross-GUI,
- cross-window-system applications with XView. My OLIT comments
- are based on the inelegance of the original *architecture* of
- Xt, not on any efforts of AT&T BTL which I have the highest
- respect for.
-
- We need more tools like OI, Galaxy, Gain Technology and tcl/Tk.
