  21. 3.1-beta4.tar.Z is not a release; it is a snapshot that I want certain people
  22. to test on platforms to which I do not have access (and I sent them e-mail
  23. individually).  It has some problems that we hope to fix shortly.  Sorry for the confusion.

  25. InterViews 3.x is a research software system, which means there is
  26. no explicit support provided.  Naturally, we try to help as much
  27. as we can.

  29. As for the scheduling, I'm not happy with recent performance either.
  30. Unfortunately, this fall has had a number of other committments
  31. for me that have not only taken away some of my time but also
  32. made it harder for me to estimate how long finishing off a release
  33. would take.

  35. I have been putting a lot of effort toward the X Consortium and
  36. related product efforts, but it will be a while yet before we know
  37. how that will turn out.  It would certainly help if anyone stated
  38. to their favorite vendor that the vendor should support the effort.
