  24. Beta 4 is news to me.  I don't see that as being "official" code since
  25. Mark Linton didn't announce it.

  27. The MIT X consortium is considering making InterViews/Fresco a standard for the
  28. R6 distribution, which is planned to be delivered before the end of 1993.
  29. Of course it will go through a review process and an internal vote.
  30. Its fair to say that the membership has various opionions on the technology.
  31. I personaly do not see any viable alternatives for an individual who wishes
  32. to do gui development in an environment that has OO language support but then
  33. I just work here and don't run things :-).  The massive existing investment
  34. in Xt and its dogma could mean no consortium standard, but it will not
  35. kill off the system.  Various people are working on things like
  36. documentation, multi-threading, and interchangability of glyphs and Xt widgets
  37. in the same application.  Perhaps you could elaboate on your reservations.
  38. I learn alot about programming a large c++ system by studying and working
  39. inside InterViews so I don't see any senario emerging that would render
  40. my time as wasted...
