- Beta 4 is news to me. I don't see that as being "official" code since
- Mark Linton didn't announce it.
-
- The MIT X consortium is considering making InterViews/Fresco a standard for the
- R6 distribution, which is planned to be delivered before the end of 1993.
- Of course it will go through a review process and an internal vote.
- Its fair to say that the membership has various opionions on the technology.
- I personaly do not see any viable alternatives for an individual who wishes
- to do gui development in an environment that has OO language support but then
- I just work here and don't run things :-). The massive existing investment
- in Xt and its dogma could mean no consortium standard, but it will not
- kill off the system. Various people are working on things like
- documentation, multi-threading, and interchangability of glyphs and Xt widgets
- in the same application. Perhaps you could elaboate on your reservations.
- I learn alot about programming a large c++ system by studying and working
- inside InterViews so I don't see any senario emerging that would render
- my time as wasted...
