  11. Okay, so ISC's 3.0 is supposed to be an improvement over 2.2 - So why
  12. doesn't "talk" work anymore?

  14. We configured 3.0 and installed the tcp/ip package - set up a loopback
  15. configuration.  We can get "talk" to work from virtual terminal to
  16. virtual terminal, but trying it across the modem lines results in a
  17. one-way conversation.  We can talk from the console to our users, but
  18. they can't get anything back to us.

  20. Everything is the same as before except /etc/hosts had to be set up
  21. differently.  Under 2.2, it looked like this:

  23.     127.1    local localhost
  24.     127.1.1.1    vpnet vpnet.chi.il.us
  25.  
  26. Now vpnet has to be on the same line as localhosts or we'll get an
  27. error.  127.1.1.1 doesn't exist.

  29. Let's see, what did I leave out?  Our I/O is via DigiBoard 16e same as
  30. before, though we're using a newer driver now.  And yes, we're in init
  31. state 3.
