  12. Having seen quite an amount of requests for an LPD interface posted to
  13. the Net lately, I announce the posting to alt.sources today. From the

  20. SLPD is an lpd daemon designed for SYSV. It translates requests initiated
  21. from LPR clients to the System V LP-spooler equivalent (if possible). 
  22. Having seen that so many in the USENET community are looking for something
  23. like this, and having the need ourselves, we decided to try an implementation.

  25. SLPD only supports a limited amount of requests from an LPR client at the
  26. moment. I am very willing to increase the functionality of SLPD if I get
  27. appropriate requests from you. The following are implemented so far:

  29.     Client (BSD-LPR)            Server (SysV-LP)
  30.     lpr filename            ->    lp -s -c filename
  31.     lpr -P<printer> filename    ->    lp -d<printer> -s -c filename
  32.     lpr -l filename            ->    lp -s -c filename
  33.     lpr -p filename            ->    pr -h filename | lp ....
  34.     lpr -p -T title filename    ->    pr -h title filename | lp ...

  36. LPRM and LPQ are not supported, because I have not quite yet figured out
  37. what the protocol is. Help anyone ?
