- Greetings,
- I hope somebody can help me. I am laying out my PhD thesis, which
- consists of six papers, an intro, and a conclusion. When I put the whole
- mess together, I get a "Tex capacity Exceeded" error, which turns out to
- be the "pool size". With only 4 of the six papers included, I have (from the
- master.log file:
-
- >(master.aux (intro.aux) (../DD.dir/davis-t.aux) (../homopaper.dir/homo-t.aux)
- >(../epr-h2o2/epr-homo-t.aux) (../litrev.dir/litrev.aux) (conclude.aux)
- >(../hetero_paper.dir/mie.aux))

- I separated the abstract, title page, and my acknowledgments out, which
- total only four pages, and I get:
-
- >(front.aux (abstract.aux) (title.aux)
- >(personal.aux))
- >Here is how much of TeX's memory you used:

- Now, Lamport says (pg. 127) that this error can be caused by too many
- cross-referencing labels. There are a lot in MASTER.TEX, but no more than other
- PhD theses done in this fine department. There are, however, NONE in FRONT.TEX,
- and the string characters is still pretty high.
-
- By the way, each chapter has its own bibliography, thanks to chapterbib.sty.
-
- My questions, therefore, are:
-
- 1. Why am I getting this POOL error when I latex the whole show?
-
- 2. How can I prevent it, since I have 2 big chapters to add into the
- big file, each with 50-60 references.
-
- I am trying to get this done in the next 8 days, so any help would be
- greatly appreciated. Send me mail or post to the net, whichever is easier.
- I can't get mail reliably at any address except the one below:
-
- Thanks IN ADVANCE
