  23. Unfortunately, this is the old EBCDIC-ASCII translation thing.  I would
  24. love to find a way to combat this (short of encoding everything, which is
  25. the only way I am aware of to do this).  Mailers can also do other things,
  26. such as strip blanks at the end of lines, expand tab characters, abend
  27. lines in excess of 80 characters, and on and on, ad nauseum.  This is why I
  28. have attempted to include checksums on FILESERV files and why I truly
  29. appreciate it when people use the standard file headers proposed and
  30. supported via software by Nelson Beebe (so I am sure I am getting what they
  31. sent).

  33. If anyone does know of a method to minimize these problems (or any subset
  34. thereof), I would sincerely appreciate it if you would inform me.
