  11. I would prefer to slink away from embarrassment, but so many people have
  12. answered me that I better own up.  One person (I forget who) asked me to
  13. check if I had another file with the same name, but without the .dvi
  14. extension and suggested it might be trying to load that one.  Sure
  15. enough, this file was temp.dvi and I had another file called temp (who
  16. doesn't?)  When I tried xdvi temp.dvi all was well.  Can I believe that
  17. xdvi does not default to a .dvi extension?
