- Your .auto file is deleted every time you "save". A new .auto is not created, in
- your case, until 5 minutes have elapsed since a "save". So if you saved your file
- and went home, the .auto was deleted and did not get onto the system backup. If you
- kept FrameMaker running and did not save after doing edits, though, it's strange
- that the .auto did not persist and show up on the backups. The .auto file should
- appear in the same directory as the working file (anyone know of a way to change
- the directory into which a .auto is saved?)
-
- Personally, I never use auto-save. I just save with a keyboard command whenever I
- am not otherwise keyboarding for a few seconds - that way I don't get interrupted
- by an auto-save in the midst of working. This also permits me to "revert" if
- necessary.
