  30. Your .auto file is deleted every time you "save". A new .auto is not created, in  
  31. your case, until 5 minutes have elapsed since a "save". So if you saved your file  
  32. and went home, the .auto was deleted and did not get onto the system backup. If you  
  33. kept FrameMaker running and did not save after doing edits, though, it's strange  
  34. that the .auto did not persist and show up on the backups. The .auto file should  
  35. appear in the same directory as the working file (anyone know of a way to change  
  36. the directory into which a .auto is saved?)

  38. Personally, I never use auto-save. I just save with a keyboard command whenever I  
  39. am not otherwise keyboarding for a few seconds - that way I don't get interrupted  
  40. by an auto-save in the midst of working. This also permits me to "revert" if  
  41. necessary.
