  19. SVR4.0/MP may run on the U6000/55 but has not ever been commercially
  20. released on that platform. It may run on the U6000/50 and U6000/51 too.

  22. However, I was talking about commercial availability:

  24. 1.    Performance may not be adequate on those systems due to the
  25.     limitations of the 80386 speed and the max memory supported by
  26.     the hardware.

  28. 2.    It was NEVER tested through product verification or integration
  29.     test for all the various revisions and versions of U6000/50/51/55
  30.     systems, including the various stepping 80386 CPU chips / erratas
  31.     or the various I/O board versions etc.

  33. 3.    The SJ software library is the same as the SLC one, they move
  34.     stuff electronically between the two.
  35.  
  36. 4.    Earlier versions of SVR4 than the one RELEASED on the U6000/60
  37.     ran on U6000/50/51/55 too, but major functionality was missing,
  38.     such as UPS port control, ECOM port control and ECC memory
  39.     board support.
  40.  
  41. 5.    Don't trust it. What may have been used for a special for you,
  42.     is not what commercial customers will have available.
  43.  
  44. 6.    Outside of specials for some internal use folks, it is not a supported
  45.     product combination.
  46.  
  47. 7.    Such a combination is not licenced by Unisys.
  48.  
  49. 8.    It is not orderable on U6000/50/51/55 platforms.

  51. 9.    Some U6000/50/51/55 vintage systems use 60MB QIC-24 tape
  52.     drives and the distribution media is 150MB QIC-150 tapes!

  54. Currently the supported platforms for SVR4.0/MP
  55. are (as of current SVR4.0/MP 1.1 release):

  57.     U6000/15    (80486DX 33MHz)
  58.     U6000/35    (80486DX 33MHz and 80486DX-2 66MHz)
  59.     U6000/60    (80486DX 25MHz)
  60.     U6000/65    (80486DX 33MHz)
  61.     U6000/65    (80486DX 50MHz)

  63. So, in conclusion, yes many releases may kind-of-run on the early
  64. U6000/50/51/55 systems, none are are commercially released and
  65. available to customers.
