  12. I have been starting to get the following error reported fairly
  13. frequently from SunOS 4.1.1 on a Sparc ELC running an Exabyte 8200
  14. during backups:

  17. st0:    Error for command 'read', Error Level: 'Fatal'
  18.         Block: 0        File Number: 0
  19.         Sense Key: Media Error
  20.         Vendor (Exabyte 8mm Helical Scan) Unique Error Code: 0x9

  22. It usually appears right at the beginning of a flashback 2.1 run (backup
  23. application) and causes the device to think that there is no tape loaded
  24. or some such nonsense and the backup fails, utterly.  If i restart it,
  25. it will often times work, but not always.  Sometimes i have to restart
  26. the application several times before it sees the drive.  Very
  27. inconvenient.  Is it time to return this unit to the factory??

  29. This error code does not appear to be listed in the exabyte manual.
