- I have been starting to get the following error reported fairly
- frequently from SunOS 4.1.1 on a Sparc ELC running an Exabyte 8200
- during backups:
-
-
- st0: Error for command 'read', Error Level: 'Fatal'
- Block: 0 File Number: 0
- Sense Key: Media Error
- Vendor (Exabyte 8mm Helical Scan) Unique Error Code: 0x9
-
- It usually appears right at the beginning of a flashback 2.1 run (backup
- application) and causes the device to think that there is no tape loaded
- or some such nonsense and the backup fails, utterly. If i restart it,
- it will often times work, but not always. Sometimes i have to restart
- the application several times before it sees the drive. Very
- inconvenient. Is it time to return this unit to the factory??
-
- This error code does not appear to be listed in the exabyte manual.
