  13. I'm using an HP 1/2 inch 88780 tape drive on a Sun. The major problem 
  14. i've seen so far is the inability to read a tape past a bad spot.

  16. Some of the tapes i need to read are OLD and have bad spots on them. When
  17. the drive sees those it fails after a number of retries. The next command
  18. sent to the drive causes it to rewind the tape and start over again. This
  19. makes it impossible for me to read past that bad spot.

  21. My feeling is that this is due to the Sun SCSI device driver. Is there a 
  22. solution to this problem?
