- I'm using an HP 1/2 inch 88780 tape drive on a Sun. The major problem
- i've seen so far is the inability to read a tape past a bad spot.
-
- Some of the tapes i need to read are OLD and have bad spots on them. When
- the drive sees those it fails after a number of retries. The next command
- sent to the drive causes it to rewind the tape and start over again. This
- makes it impossible for me to read past that bad spot.
-
- My feeling is that this is due to the Sun SCSI device driver. Is there a
- solution to this problem?
-
- Any suggestion would be very appreciated.
