- Hi
- We have a (small) network of Suns dedicated to feeding our two
- Connection Machines here. To make sys.admin easier, we removed NIS and
- replaced it with DNS/BIND. Since then everything has worked fine, except...
-
- I installed the "new" ftpd (variously called wuarchive_ftpd, and other sitenames)
- which provides a nice amount of logging and user control :-). In all respects
- it works fine, except...
-
- When multiple files are wanted, or (sometimes) a directory is dir'ed, the
- daemon appears to sit still, twiddling its thumbs, for quite a while. Once it
- decides to serve the request it is very fast, xfers of a few 100 kB/s. But
- in between requests it sits (apparently in I or IW state) for close to a minute!
- Thus an mget of a large directory which should be painless isn't.
- (1 minute... get the file (3sec)....1 minute.... get the next file (3sec)...)
-
- Has anybody else seen this behaviour ? Is there a fix ? Any suggestions on how
- to track down where/why it is idling ? Any help GREATLY appreciated. This
- behaviour appeared to start around the time we moved to the resolv+ system.
-
- Cheers,
- Markus
