- You haven't mentioned the modem and the line speed on the other side
- of the connection. Is it possible that *that* side needs hardware
- flow control? It will if it has, say, a V.32 modem on a 9600 bps
- line (or maybe even faster). Then the modem receives data at 9600 bps
- but can only send it on 2400 bps. It has to flow-control it's
- attached machine.
