- This is a followup to the posts about not being able to use an
- SBUS Sparc Printer card under Solaris 2.1, and therefore not on
- a Sparc Classic.
-
-
- A previous followup claimed that the SBUS card is not needed because the
- Sparc Classic has a parallel port. But the SparcPrinter package is
- driven by a "video interface" which has a special device driver.
- (The card has a parallel port as well, for hooking HP printers and
- the like.) In any case I don't think NeWSprint itself works under
- Solaris 2.1 -- I know there is a compatibility mode but NeWSprint does
- some funny things that might not work in compatibility mode.
-
- My Sun rep tells me that the whole setup will be ported to Solaris 2.1
- by March.
