  12. I have a question regarding licensing Sun Solaris RTU's for X-Terminals.
  13. I am considering purchasing a number of X-Terminals as an alternative to
  14. placing a Sun workstation on every desktop.  I am confused as to whether
  15. I need to purchase any additional RTU's for the operating system from
  16. Sun for these new systems.

  18. I spoke to a Sun sales rep. who advised me to go ahead and purchase 
  19. additional RTU's.  However, when I looked in my Sun pricing catalog (May
  20. 19, 1992 pg. 75), I noticed that the description for the RTU upgrades
  21. reads as follows:

  23. Right-to-Use Licenses for Solaris on Sun Systems

  25. The description also mentions that these RTU upgrades "can only be
  26. purchased with a system or a standalone CPU board on the same order".
  27. Both of these things taken together make me think that this RTU might be
  28. applicable *only* to Sun platforms.

  30. Does anyone have a better feel as to what the licensing issue really is?
  31. Obviously, I want to do the right thing, but I'm not certain just exactly
  32. what the "right thing" is.  Hopefully someone out there who has already 
  33. gone throught this sort of thing can straighten me out.
