- We've been trying to use the SGI VideoFramer with a
- BetacamSP PVW-2800 (with appropriate Vlan receiver) and
- an external sync source. We have had limited success --
- sometimes the recorded sequences come out clean, and sometimes
- they have small (2 or 3 pixel) horizontal jumps. We have
- gotten clean sequences and jumps at different times from
- the same sequence of images, so we know that the problem
- is not in the generation of the images. We are using tape
- with clean, prerecorded time code (VITC). I called the hotline, but
- the external sync source was all they could suggest (that
- did cut down on a lot of the random horizontal jumping we
- were getting, but not quite all). We are using component, rather
- than composite video, so I don't think this is the problem
- require a "color bump" that is mentioned in the release notes.
-
- This is a really difficult problem to debug, since it involves
- equipment from different manufacturers. Has anybody else had
- this problem?
