- Xpsview is crude and your looking for a simpler way? The PostScript
- code needs to be interpreted and a bitmap needs to be created. This
- is not a simple task. xpsview renders to screen spatial and color
- resolution (72ish dpi/8bit dithered - worst case) and you want to
- print on a 300dpi/24bit printer, now that IS crude.
-
- There are a couple of options, neither is complicated or crude or cheap.
- First the one I don't recommend, CAI (Freedom of Press) is a 3rd party
- software RIP that runs on SGI and has 4693D(X) driver. I wont quote
- prices but I think it can be purchased through SGI (1-800-800-4SGI).
-
- The other option is to upgrade your 4693D to a 4693PXi. The PXi is
- our lastest state of the art PostScript Level 2 interpreter and
- would solve all of your problems. I wont quote price on usenet but if
- you want more info, email me. If you are concerned about loosing
- the D raster functionality email and I'll explain why that's not a
- problem.
