  15. PROBLEM:  machines synchronizing their clocks keep losing time
  16.     (about 5 minutes per day).

  18. SETUP:
  19.     - We have three SGI machines, each running 4.0.5
  20.         (names: nrc3d, clsm and nrc-iris)
  21.  
  22.     - The current "timed.options" file on machine nrc3d looks like this:

  24.         -P /usr/tmp/.timetrim -F localhost clsm nrc-iris.nrc.uab.edu

  26.         (each machine lists itself and the other two as
  27.             trusted time machines)
  28.  
  29.     - Each timed starts with the -M option, which SGI writes into
  30.         the "network" init script.

  32. SO:
  33.     The machines do keep the same time, but the time drifts backwards
  34.     about 5 minutes a day.  Why does this happen, and what can I do
  35.     to make it stop??
