- Here is yet another way to obtain your MAC addr plus lots of other
- goodies.
-
- when you boot from the prom you supply an extra argument
-
- boot dksc(,1,)/unix showconfig
-
- then before loading it dumps load of hardware info, including memory and
- MAC addr. Things vary depending on architecture.
-
- just another trick that hasnt been mentioned yet, how many ways have been
- mentioned now? it must be record for solutions.
-
- % nvram eaddr
- % sysinfo
- % netstat -ia
- % arp -a
- % etc etc
-
- Also isnt the hostid derived from the MAC address, as its the only
- guaranteed unique number?
-
- Here is another goodie to use if you are not using timed, in your .cshrc
-
- alias sync_time 'rsh guest@\!* date +%m%d%H%M.%S | xargs date'
-
- then sync_time fred sync the time to machine fred, as root of course
- Its a hack to the sunos command rdate. Pretty useless really.
