- I have long been frustrated by the built in calculator on the HP95,
- too many useless "business" functions and not worth the effort for
- scientific use. I find myself carrying around my old HP 42 for lab
- work when this was one of my justifications for one of my favorite
- toys.
-
- SO... being partially stupid and in posession of the HP ISV
- documentation (for an unrelated project) I am going to attempt to
- write a sysmgr compliant calculator/simple graph application during my
- next, long awaited stretch of free time.
-
- Since you can't throw a brick on usenet without hitting a few PhD's,
- EECS' and assorted computer studs I'd like to know what features
- people would want in such a beast. Post or email, any suggestions or
- advice welcome...
-
- What I'm thinking so far:
- -Memories, lots of em.
-
- -Constants - c, h, Me, Mp, G, g, k, e.... with the ability to add your
- own (see Memories)
-
- -Conversions CGI/SI particularly, constants would be used in whatever
- mode was active also metric/english also base conversions
- which seem to be inexplicably missing from HP's calculator
-
- -Graphing limited 3d ability, although the thing might just be too slow
- I suppose at least the level of Solver functionality of HP's
- would be needed although I never use it for anything.
-
- -Equation input for the solver/use of constants etc...
- - Copy & Paste TeX? could be fun.... work the equation, solve
- it for different constants as defined in a Memory, then export
- the whole thing to memo as TeX.... hmmm
-
- -Distributed Ray Tracing over the IR port..... nahhhh not challenging
- enough :)
-
- Any other suggestions?
