  13. I am experiencing some very strange stuff and wonder if it sounds familiar
  14. to any of you.

  16. I have Netware 3.11 with Mac NW-3.011 installed, as well as NFS1.2.  
  17. The AFP.NLM is loaded with the nomultiple option.  
  18.  
  19. One of my volumes has all three name spaces installed, and is used as a shared
  20. file space for Mac, Dos, and Unix systems.  One of the subdirector structures,
  21. a rather large one of serveral megabytes, was originally created on a Unix
  22. system.  When the shared file space became  available we copied (using tar)
  23. the entire structure over to the shared Novell volume, and began to access 
  24. files in all three name spaces. I think that this is the only subdirectory
  25. structure on the volume that was created this way.  Most of the others were
  26. created originally using Dos or Macs.

  28. I now have a situation which seems to be unique to that subdirectory.  Some,
  29. but not all, directories and files, when accessed through a Mac, cause the
  30. following to happen:

  32.  1 - The desktop disappears.  That is, all windows and icons vanish, but the
  33.      screen doesn't go black.
  34.  2 - A few seconds pass.
  35.  3 - The desktop reappears, with all windows collapsed back into the mounted
  36.      volume icon.

  38. The access can be as simple as closing a folder (it never happens when openning
  39. a folder) or opening a file with an application.  Permissions all appear
  40. as they should be, or at least OK to me.

  42. I tried to rebuild the desktop on that volume using a Sys 6 Mac, but it
  43. hangs after a few minutes, and won't complete.
  44.  
  45. Anyone seen something like this or have suggestions.
