- In setting up ATPS on our newly-installed Novell network we were trying to
- hide the Novell LaserWriter names from our Macs. We didn't want the Macs to
- have twice the number of printer names to choose from. In one of our attempts
- we used the flag -h with one of the printers and now I can't get that printer
- to show up in our Macs' Chooser windows. Our PC's have no trouble printing
- to it via Novell.
-
- Before you make suggestions let me tell you the things I've tried.
- 1. Cycling the printer.
- 2. Issuing the ATPSSHOW printer-name (and ALL) command.
- 3. UNLOADing and reLOADing ATPS.
- 4. UNLOADing ATPS, cycling the printer, and then reLOADing ATPS.
- 5. DOWNing and EXITing Novell and restarting it.
-
- Each time I issue the ATPSSHOW command for the printer I get the message that
- the printer is now unhidden. Yet the printer is still unavailable to Macs.
- As a workaround I've removed the -wf command from the ATPS.CFG file for this
- printer so that at least the Macs can see it.
-
- InterPOLL shows the printer's status as LaserShared and none of the operations
- listed above have been able to change that. I can't get the Namer utility
- for LaserWriters to even address the printer.
-
- Can someone suggest how to restore this printer to its former glory?
-
- Thanks.
