  15. No, but I'd like to see a software-only solution to the problem.  Sun's 
  16. disk utilities are pretty elegant.  They use the standard SCSI hardware
  17. including the Sbus SCSI interface.  The mirrors work through the
  18. installation of 'metadisk' drivers, that take care of writing to the
  19. 'submirrors' transparently.

  21. This eliminates the need for specialized controllers and 'expensive' RAID
  22. setups.  If performance is a problem, I think 10Mbit SCSI should eventually
  23. fix it.

  25. As more and more NeXT's are pressed into server roles, mirroring, striping,
  26. and other high-availability technologies will be needed.
