- |to my files and apps.
- |
- |Question: what do I need to do to boot off this ext drive?
-
- DOCS = Hold down the DELETE, OPTION, COMMAND, and SHIFT keys on startup
- and you will boot with the external drive. NOTE: The internal drive
- will NOT be accessible.
-
- OR
-
- Select the external drive as the startup device and restart. This
- will allow access to the internal drive. NOTE: Once the external
- drive is selected as the boot drive you can disconnect it and the
- system will boot from the internal drive. That way when you reconnect
- the external drive and restart the system will boot from the external.
- I don't recall if this is true for system 6.0.X.
-
- |Question: what do I need to do to access data and apps on this drive?
-
- Boot from the external using one of the above methods for transparent
- operation or use DDExpand (ADExpand was the old name) to expand the files.
-
- |Question: Will the fact that all my files will be compressed and the
- | system is not running autodoubler wreak havoc?
-
- No.
-
- | Without booting
- | off my ext drive, how do I invoke autodoubler (which auto-expands
- | files as needed)?
-
- AutoDoubler must be loaded at startup in order to expand files as
- needed.
-
- | Is the only fix to run ADExpand manually
- | on files as needed (this would be a BIG drag!)?
- ...
- Without AutoDoubler loaded then yes.
