- Just thought I'd clarify a couple of things, based on information I
- obtained from Claris, Nine to Five Software, and Adobe...
-
- First, HyperCard 2.1 is not *completely* compatible with System
- 7.1; it will work with no problems as long as you do not change the
- date format in the corresponding Control Panel. Use the default
- format for displaying the date, or you'll find that HyperCard-based
- software that uses date-sorting routines will get screwed up or even
- crash. Nine to Five Software informed me of the problem, since it
- affects their "9 to 5 Office" package; when I asked Claris when the
- problem would be fixed, a Claris rep said, "It's not a high priority;
- who'd want to change the date format, anyway?" I don't know, maybe
- the international users who buy 7.1... :-)
-
- Anyway, there's actually another reason to stick with ATM 2.0.3 other
- than the fact that 3.0 costs another $7.50; if you use a DeskWriter
- (any model) and TypeAlign with ATM 3.0, you'll get garbage on your
- printouts from TypeAlign, although all other applications will still
- print with no problems. Solutions? Stick with ATM 2.0.3, don't print
- from within TypeAlign, or wait for the upcoming SuperATM, which Adobe
- says will fix this bug.
