  15. Just thought I'd clarify a couple of things, based on information I
  16. obtained from Claris, Nine to Five Software, and Adobe...

  18. First, HyperCard 2.1 is not *completely* compatible with System
  19. 7.1; it will work with no problems as long as you do not change the
  20. date format in the corresponding Control Panel.  Use the default
  21. format for displaying the date, or you'll find that HyperCard-based
  22. software that uses date-sorting routines will get screwed up or even
  23. crash.  Nine to Five Software informed me of the problem, since it
  24. affects their "9 to 5 Office" package; when I asked Claris when the
  25. problem would be fixed, a Claris rep said, "It's not a high priority;
  26. who'd want to change the date format, anyway?"  I don't know, maybe
  27. the international users who buy 7.1... :-)

  29. Anyway, there's actually another reason to stick with ATM 2.0.3 other
  30. than the fact that 3.0 costs another $7.50; if you use a DeskWriter
  31. (any model) and TypeAlign with ATM 3.0, you'll get garbage on your
  32. printouts from TypeAlign, although all other applications will still
  33. print with no problems.  Solutions?  Stick with ATM 2.0.3, don't print
  34. from within TypeAlign, or wait for the upcoming SuperATM, which Adobe
  35. says will fix this bug.
