- 1) If you're going to use Suitcase with System 7.1, you have to have 2.1.1
- (people tell me 2.1.2, but I still believe you can get away with 2.1.1!)
- You can download an updater from several ftp sites... can't think of one
- at the moment, though...
- 2) Try unpacking your fonts with Font & Sound Valet. System 7.1 won't
- recognize the fonts if they're packed.
- 3) The reason Suitcase hangs on startup is probably because it's trying to
- open the font suitcases that you dragged into the Fonts Folder; if they're
- in the Fonts Folder, they are marked as being "used".
-
- To summarize: to clear this, remove the fonts from the Fonts Folder.
- Restart with Suitcase running. If it loads, close all of the suitcases and
- remove them from the group listing. Then, drag them back into the Fonts
- Folder (hopefully after unpacking them with Font & Sound Valet).
- A good reason to use SUitcase with 7.1; it can get around possible
- compatibility problems. I created a PostScript Fonts folder in my System
- Folder. I loaded all the PostSCript fonts and their bitmap suitcases into
- the folder, and opened them with Suitcase. Voila! The program doesn't have
- to worry whether or not the PostScript fonts are in the Extensions Folder
- or the Fonts Folder... (because of this, I'm still using Adobe Illustrator
- 3.0!)
-
- Hope this helps!
