  25. I would reset your monitor control panel to colors....then restart...then
  26. play with the desktop patterns again...

  28. If that fails, restart with no extensions (hold down shift at startup) and if
  29. it is in color, you know there is still a file left in your extensions or
  30. control panels folder.
