  11. Does anyone know of a way to get password protection for Syquest
  12. cartridges?
  13. My Syquest drive came with APS PowerTools, which claims to be able to
  14. password protect a partition on a cartridge, but the software doesn't
  15. work.
  16. Problem 1 (Minor) The user-interface for mounting a passworded cartridge
  17. is
  18.   clumsy.
  19. Problem 2 (Major) Once you've password protected a cartridge, you CANNOT
  20. eject it. The eject button on the drive simply doesn't work. This, of
  21. course, makes the whole scheme useless---if I didn't want to swap
  22. cartridges, why would I buy a Syquest drive?

  24. Does anyone know of decent formatters that get this right? Silverlining?
  25. Are there other things available that aren't SCSI formatters but allow one
  26. to password protect ejectable media?
