- Well, I guess I get to answer my own post.

- It turns out that the Macbinary setting on NCSA Telnet is
- the problem.

- I get around this by downloading the binary file from our
- VAX to the mac by typing binary at the VAX end (at which
- time it informs me that macbinary is disabled). Then I
- convert this file with Apple File Exchange and the Macbinary
- to Mac setting.

- I should have guessed at the culprit beforehand but I don't
- get too annoyed - it is free software after all.
