Actually I would say there are more than two possibilities. Though it's most likelyespecially since you say it's a new machine-that the problem is indeed with
the disk, you might be having a problem with your drive. Or, the head
alignment of the drive that wrote the floppy in the first place is too far off
from that of the one on which you are trying to read it. The diagnostic
questions are pretty obvious:does this symptom occur on the same drive with
numerous floppies? Does the floppy read in another drive?
