  17. Apple's line about this (whether it is true or not remains to be seen) is
  18. that the emulation of the Mac on a PowerPC will not be detrimental because
  19. the toolbox will be coded in native RISC code. Since so much of the mac is
  20. the toolbox, and since so much of the code is spent accessing it, it will
  21. balence out the slower emulation.

  23. SoftPC on the other hand has to emulate the 8088 and all of the PC hardware,
  24. since most MS-DOS programs access it directly. (MS Windows could probably be
  25. speed up if someone could write a video driver that could call the Quickdraw
  26. directly.)
