- In the neighborhood of $300 the machine I've heard the best of
- is the ZyXEL U-1496E. It's v32.bis, v42.bis, MNP 2-5, 14.4k fax
- S/R, and is very reliable. The Supra 14.4K Fax modem is also
- really popular, but less dependable, tends to overheat, and
- looses connection, of fails to connect more often than the
- ZyXEL or PPI (the PPI is good but expensive).

- Source for the ZyXEL is Kaddy Shack (sp?) 800-638-1170 for $329.

- If you want more info check out the news group comp.dcom.modems,
- there seems to be a constant discussion on the relitive value
- and dependability of various modems. Right now the ZyXEL is
- the favored, and the Supra is in the doghouse.
