- Are we starting a thread of dumb things we've done to our
- PowerBooks? If so, here's my submission: when staying at my sister's a
- few months ago, I left the PB170,in sleep mode and with the top closed,
- on a chair while it was plugged into the charger. Cleverly, I entered
- the darkened room later, tripped over the cord, and sent the PowerBook
- flying a meter or two across the room. The left leg (Apple refers to
- them as "lifters") broke off, but nothing else was harmed. The lifters
- cost $5.00 a piece; replacing them requires opening the box, so I would
- have voided my warranty if I had done it myself.... ;-)
-
- I've found the PowerBook to be exceptionally sturdy: for about six
- months this year, I carried mine 30 km each way to and from work in my
- backpack on a motorcycle with no problems.
