- Hey, you're right! I never really paid much attention until you
- mentioned it Blaine but setting my display to black and white and then
- back to 16 grey scale really hammers your point home -- at least with
- my display.(PB160 4/120)
-
- I think I can learn to live with it though because I do like the
- "depth" that grey scale brings to the screen environment. Does anyone
- know if the PowerBook 180 screen behaves this way or does active matrix
- technology overcome the problem?
-
- On a related note, I got to looking at my screen real close after
- reading Blaines message and noticed two things:
-
- 1.If I look real hard at the screen I can see two small, solid-looking,
- black dots that are smaller than a pixel embedded in it -- like specks
- of dust or grit. Anyone else seen this on their display? Is it just a
- bit of debris trapped in the screen during the manufacturing process or
- something worse?
-
- 2.If I look at the screen with the contrast turned off I can see a
- number of hairline cracks it. They appear to be cracks in the plastic.
- Anyone else seen this on their display? Are these just imperfections in
- the screen plastic or something worse?
-
- I feel fairly confident that the above items are just minor
- imperfections but similar reports from other PowerBook owners would be
- reassuring.
-
- Regards.
