- The main criteria for choosing a system is the game selection, isn't it?
- So the system specs aren't that important, IMO. But it's silly to say
- that the Turbo has bad graphics--it has four times the colors (on
- screen) of the Genesis. The best way to choose a system is to try some
- games on them. My recommendations would be:
-
- Neo Geo: dunno, never saw any games I found interesting. (sorry)
-
- SNES: Super Mario Kart--kind of the sequel to F-Zero. It's cute but
- very challenging and the two player mode is amazing both to play and to
- look at.
-
- Street Fighter II--you either love this game or hate it, I think.
- It's a near perfect translation.
-
- Contra III--Very nice run and shoot game (this is also two player
- simultaneous) with great use of the SNES's rotation/scaling. Very hard.
-
- Space Megaforce (Super Aleste)--I don't think this is out in the
- US yet but it's the best shooter I've seen anywhere.
-
- Genesis: Alisia Dragoon--this is a really neat horizontal scroller.
- The options are interesting and the graphics are pretty well done.
-
- Master of Monsters--a fantasy wargame. It's pretty involving
- and takes a lot of time so the lone save slot is pretty frustrating. A
- lot of fun, though.
-
- Warsong--another fantasy wargame. It's simpler than MoM but
- has more concrete goals and storyline. The battle scenes are pretty
- funny.
-
- Turbo: DragonSlayer--one of the better RPG's out there though I hear
- the US version has horrible voice acting.
-
- Ninja Spirit--this is an old game but is still a lot of fun.
- Run, jump, hack, slash.
-
- I think the biggest asset of the Turbo Duo is its
- compatibility with Japanese PC-Engine CD games. It looks like a lot of
- the good ones will be brought over to the US anyway. Some good Japanese
- PC-E games are Spriggan MkII, Ziria II, Parodius, and Snatcher.
