- Quoting mmdh@cbnewsf.cb.att.com (Mazen Mokhtar)==================
- - At the end of the second level, after I jump to the very far left (to open
- the door to the third level) I can't return. I have to jump over three
- spaces and my character misses the lower level every time. Is there
- a trick?
-
- When I jump, my character JUST misses, actually, he makes it for a fraction
- of a second before falling:
-
- #
- # ...'''..
- #----==== '. ------------
- ######### \
- ######### \
- ######### |------------
- ######### |#### ####
- ######### V#### ####
-
- Of course, there is no space for me to make a long jump.

-
- The solution is quite simple...it's just a part of the keyboard commands
- that few people know about. If you hold the shift key while you are
- falling, you will catch with your hands any ledge you fall past. So
- "just missing" is close enough for the prince to grab the ledge. This
- will come into play many times in upper levels.
-
- The keyboard commands are as follows:
- 7 - jump left
- 8 - jump up to hit ceiling or to climb up one level
- 9 - jump right
- 4 - run left
- 6 - run right
- 2 are all either crouching or climbing down one level
- 7 + shift - jump left and catch ledge
- 8 + shift - jump up and hang
- 9 + shift - jump right and catch ledge
- 4 + shift - slow step left
- 6 + shift - slow step right
- 2 + shift - climb down one level and hang
- shift while in a fight - slash with sword
- 8 while in a fight - parry up
- 8 and then shift before he finishes the parry - parry, then riposte (very fast)
- 8 or 9 while running make a running jump...very long
