- Suppose the following: 210 megs of Macintosh Freehand, Pagemaker, and
- Word files are lost on an IBM Novell server when it crashes. The server's
- hard disk is recovered however.
-
- When the Mac files are transferred back, the "file type" for all the files
- is now "TEXT" and the creator for all files is "mdos." The Macintosh
- thinks all of the files are mere documents, and Pagemaker, Freehand cannot
- open these files.
-
- I have figured out how to retrieve these files by changing each file back
- to the original type/creator information. (i.e. ALB4 ALD$ for PM4.2,
- etc.) This is tedious because you have to "guess" and change the info for
- each file. Is there an easier or faster way to put back the proper file
- type/creator information?
-
- Thanks in advance for any help. Please e-mail.
