  12. Since I have most of the parts lying about and have lots
  13. of experience with 680x0 series micros I am making my own 
  14. 68030 board to plug into a Mac Plus.

  16. I am doing this mostly as a fun project but also so that 
  17. I don't get those annoying "Illegal instruction" errors 
  18. and can run virtual memory. I hnow I can get a commercial
  19. 68030 accelerator for <$400 but that takes all the fun 
  20. out of it.

  22. I learned today that I can't run virtual memory on a Mac 
  23. Plus because the ROMs don't have some essential toolbox
  24. routines in them. I am told that I may be able to use
  25. "Compact Virtual" from Connectrix which, I think, patches
  26. the system to allow VM to work properly. I called 
  27. Connectrix and they want $99 plus shipping etc but can't
  28. guarantee that it will work with my home made board. 
  29. I spoke with their technical support people and someone
  30. suggested that maybe I could collaborate with a friend
  31. who already has "Compact Virtual". Well it's a good idea
  32. but I don't know anyone like that.

  34.     So maybe someone reading this has upgraded to a
  35. bigger and better Mac and has a copy they don't need any
  36. more that they can let me use or will sell me the rights,
  37. Whatever! If it works then I'll go back to Connectrix so
  38. that I can get support, upgrades, manuals and all those 
  39. goodies.

  41. The whole point is that I am not sure if it will work.
  42. The 68030 swap will almost certainly work but the VM part
  43. has me worried. So if anyone can help me out please send
  44. me an email.
