- I received TaxCut a couple of days ago. Did some trial
- runs on my anticipated taxes. So far, I like it
- better than MacInTax (which I used last year for the
- first time; never used any tax prep software before
- that).
-
- However, I managed to crash the thing, and can
- repeat the crash at will. Didn't lose any data though.
-
- I think it still needs some work -- for instance, there
- is a reference in one of the help windows to a Self vs.
- Spouse checkbox at the top of form SE. But no such checkbox
- exists. I couldn't get TaxCut to change the form to refer
- to her rather than me. I had to create a new form SE.
-
- It recalculates the whole tax return even when nothing
- has been changed, under some circumstances. Like when you
- ask for the summary of the return. However, MacInTax didn't
- have a summary that I can recall, and I really like having the
- summary.
-
- Not all features are implemented in the preview version, which
- is what is available now.
-
- Despite all this, I like it better than MacInTax. Cheaper,
- too (I got the 19.95 intro offer, extra 10 or 15 for the preview
- version).
