  14. 3 small questions that I don't think are FAQ's (I hope)

  16. 1. Could someone tell me just what the hell MacTCP is and what it's good for?

  18. 2. (This one is more important to me) I am using DiskDoubler on my ClassicII
  19. running 7.0.1+1.1.1 and I LOVE it, but I occasionally find that when I open a
  20. compressed document, it uncompresses (apparently fine,) but then it _doesn't_
  21. open it -- it just recompresses it! I'm doing it _right_ -- i.e. I start the
  22. application _first_, or I make sure the application isn't compressed (btw I
  23. wish someone would work on that for future versions -- why can't I open a
  24. compressed document that can send its launch command to a compressed app which
  25. will then uncompress and launch and open that document?? it does make DD a
  26. little more cumbersome for me.) It only happens occasionally, and I've always
  27. assumed that there was something else wrong (not enough memory, or whatever)
  28. but I've noticed that it keeps happening, even when nothing else is running. I
  29. don't notice any rhyme or reason to the things it refuses to open -- i.e. this
  30. happens with docs, with apps, etc.
  31. It's a pain because I have to select the item and go to "Expand" under the DD
  32. menu -- and if I don't remember to select it and compress it again when I'm
  33. done, DD won't automatically recompress it.

  35. 3. We've just noticed here that the office copy of MacLink Plus/PC (6.0 I
  36. think) doesn't have a translator for QuarkExpress. This is only mildly
  37. annoying, as we don't get much call to translate Quark files, but I'm curious
  38. as to why. As my boss pointed out, it's got PageMaker, Ventura Publisher, and
  39. FrameMaker -- but no Quark Express? What's the excuse for not providing
  40. translation for such a popular program?
