Ah ha! Hello boring technical person... (This is a joke NOT a compliment.)
I recently posted some FAQs about notebooks and got some very useful replies.
I`m thinking about purchasing one but on my own terms, so to speak. What I would REALLY like to do is the following and I would like to know some EASY and/or cheap ways of achieving it.
(I would expect to purchase a 486 based machine with loads of RAM and a big hard disk but just a "normal" screen so I could take it with me to work in Germany from home in the UK.)
At home I have a 386 with 4Mb RAM 65Mb Hard Disk and SVGA Colour Monitor. My wish list is:
1. Continue to use PC as "stand alone" at home (for wife to use)
as it is - i.e. without any messing about...
2. Upgrade the PC to run OS/2...
3. Link the laptop/notebook to the PC and use the 486, hard disk,
RAM and HD in the notebook, the monitor, floppies and hard
disk on the PC and the printer which is linked to the PC...
4. Do it all as simply as possible - ideally just plug in from one
to the other and go.
I currently use DRDOS 6 and Windows 3.1 (at least I would if it would admit my mouse exists more than 50% of the time) with various applications.
Simple huh?
Ideas so far - Network (Novell Lite?); Docking Station; Loadsa wires.
Thanks in advance for any ideas (preferably by email).
