- We had the 386/SX laptops the the big problem was with the hinge mechanism
- for the screen. They used a really poor choice of material which fractured
- within 2-3 months of usage. Once the plastic broke the spring loaded
- mechanism for a counter weight expanded and litterally blew apart the
- LCD display. We had seven machines and 6 of them broke within the first 2-3
- months. Like you we went for the attractive price allowing us more units, but
- in the long run we decided to sacrifice a unit to get something that would
- last. Otherwise they were OK, but, once the screen was broke they were useless.
